Bintou

BintouBintou, lives in Mali, in a rural village.

Thousands of girls her age spend four hours a day bringing water to their family and walking on average 5 km to get to the closest water point. Each day, she only has 20 liters of water to cover all of her needs. They are lacking drinking water, which compromises their health, their schooling and most of all their future, that of the village and of the country.

There is no running water and there are few traditional wells which don't meet the villagers' needs. They only have access to tributaries wherein the dirty water spreads illness, notably in children.

But all is not lost. Hope for little Bintou will come from running into her neighbor at the market. This will change the course of her life.
