Earth Summit - Johannesburg 2002The battle of development lies not only with the population, but also with the institutions and policy makers on a national and international level so that questions of development and reduction of poverty become one of their priorities.

Eau Vive is particularly motivated about related water issues and lobbies French and European policy makers to give priority to the financing of access to water and sanitation for the poor.

Eau Vive is the lead member of the Water Coalition which is a coalition of French non-profit organizations working globally to deliver affordable and sustainable water and sanitation services for all. Water Coalition members include 24 French non-profit organizations working, both in France and overseas, on the frontlines of water and sanitations issues.

To the same effect, Eau Vive intervenes on other issues such as:

  • the fight against desertification
  • the financing of development, notably that which is driven by civil society organizations
  • the place of civil society organizations in development policy and implementation of national programs

To lead these battles, Eau Vive operates at many levels, with the collaboration of its different partners, participating in:

  • meetings both nationally and internationally,
  • initiatives led by international organizations
  • collectives and working groups
  • campaigns
