SENEGAL

Senegal is one of the most dynamic instigators of NEPAD (New Partnership for African Development) and has strengthened its development policies these past years in order to optimize growth.

Many programs which foster a sense of responsibility and improve the well being of the populations (e.g. the National Rural Infrastructure Programme (PNIR), Poverty Reduction Programme, etc. ) are being carried out, as democracy takes hold and inspires local development.

Despite such programs, isolated rural regions do not have sufficient equipment to meet their basic needs.

EAU VIVE IN SENEGAL

The office has been in Thies since 1994.

Priority actions, identified through requests from the villagers, principally concern water.

With decentralization, Eau Vive is moving to support local members of government, to help them fulfil their role and promote local development of rural communities.

In the Tambacounda region, Eau Vive works in consortium with LVIA (an Italian NGO) to support the setting up of a development plan in Koumpentoum.
